Connecting your Square account

How to link your Square account so ArtistryHost can collect bookings, charge cards, and sync revenue.

ArtistryHost runs on top of your existing Square account. Your money still lands in your Square deposit account, your retail and walk-in transactions stay where they are, and we add bookings on top.

You connect Square once during onboarding. Here's how.

The steps

  1. From the admin sidebar, open Settings → Integrations → Square.
  2. Click Connect Square. You'll be redirected to Square's authorization page.
  3. Sign in with the Square account that owns your venue.
  4. Review the requested permissions. We ask for Orders, Payments, Locations, Items, and Gift Cards scopes. These are the minimum we need to record bookings, collect payments, and redeem gift cards.
  5. Click Allow. Square redirects you back to ArtistryHost with a green confirmation banner.

If you see the green banner, you're connected. Move on to mapping your locations (next article).

"It's saying 401 or unauthorized"

This is almost always one of two things:

  • Wrong Square account. If you have a personal Square account and a business Square account, you may have signed into the wrong one. Sign out of Square in another tab, then click Connect Square again and sign in with the business account.
  • Production vs sandbox mismatch. Operators sometimes connect a Square sandbox account by mistake. Sandbox doesn't process real cards. The production account at squareup.com is the one to connect.

If neither of those resolve it, hit the Question button at the bottom right with your venue name and we'll dig in.

Disconnecting Square

If you ever need to disconnect, for testing, migration, or switching to a different Square account. Go to Settings → Integrations → Square and click Disconnect. Your existing bookings stay intact, but new payments will fail until you reconnect.

We never store your Square password. The connection uses Square's OAuth flow, which gives us a token that you can revoke any time from your Square account settings.
